Gill Sizing Information
Gill makes sailing gear in unisex, men's, women's, and junior specific sizing. If a product is not designated with men's, women's, or junior, please use the unisex size chart for guidance. Additional size charts are available for footwear and glove products.
Gill Men's / Unisex Size Chart
- All Gill Men's gear is based on average US Height/Chest/Waist measurements. You'll need to know your Waist/Inseam measurement for trousers.
- Height is based on averages such as 6'1"-6'3" rather than 6'1 & 3/4". If you don't know your height, get a friend to help you out with a measuring tape.
- For chest measurements, we recommend that you measure your chest around the fullest part. Using a cloth measuring tape, keep the tape up under your arms and around your shoulder blades. Add an extra inch to account for any thermal layering you may include under your garment.
- For your waist size, use a cloth measuring tape again and measure around your waist, where your pants normally rest. If possible, do this in your underwear, not over other clothing. Add an extra inch to account for any thermal layering you may include under your garment.
- For the inside leg, measure from the groin to the bottom of your shin with a cloth measuring tape. Add an extra inch to account for any thermal layering you may include under your garment.
- Note: Women who would like to outfit themselves in Unisex gear should not add an extra inch for thermal layering.
Gill Women's Size Chart
- Sizes based on average height of 5'4" - 5'6" (163-168cm) and average inside leg of 30"-32" (76-81cm)
- All garments are labeled and sold in USA sizing.
- Our women's gear is specially designed to account for a woman's sizing considerations. All gear specifically made for women is marked with numerical sizing - 4,6, 8, 10, 12, 14, etc. To outfit yourself for a unisex size, please use the Men's size guidelines above but DO NOT add an extra inch for thermal layering.
- Because women's bodies are built differently than men, our women's gear does not list Height requirements. All sizes are based on Women's average US Chest/Waist measurements in inches. Trousers are based on Waist/Inside Leg measurements.
- To measure your chest, wrap a cloth measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust. Make sure to keep the tape up under your arms and around your shoulder blades. Add an extra inch to account for any thermal layering you may include under your garment.
- To measure your waist, use a cloth measuring tape again and measure around your waist, where your pants normally rest. If possible, do this in your underwear, not over other clothing. Be sure to keep one finger between the measuring tape and your body and don't pull the tape too taut. Add an extra inch to account for any thermal layering you may include under your garment.
- If you are particularly petite, you may want to consider our Junior range of gear. If you take measurements in centimeters, please be sure to convert them to inches.
